Sitka Jazz Week
Sitka Jazz Week was founded and is led by professional Jazz Musician and Songwriter, Christian Fabian.
Christian has become one of the most-regarded bassists on the US jazz scene. In addition to teaching in New York, and traveling to give workshops and clinics, he plays with the Lionel Hampton Big Band, the Mike Longo Big Band, and has performed with Matt King, Bernard Purdie, Jimmy Owens, Gary Burton, Danny Gottlieb, Lewis Nash, Jason Marsalis, John La Porta, Elvin Jones, Cheryl Bentyne, Ed Thigpen, Makoto Ozone, Chaka Khan, Bob Mintzer, Charlie Mariano, Claudio Roditi, Rick Margitza, Jon Hendricks and many others.
Christian founded the Sitka Jazz Week as an opportunity for anyone currently involved in jazz music or those wanting to be. It's an opportunity to come to beautiful Sitka, AK, and be fully immersed in a week of jazz masterclasses, LIVE jazz performances, connect and be taught by world-class jazz musicians, and so much more. Sitka Jazz Week is for people of all ages and diverse backgrounds to come together with one goal, JAZZ. There is no other week like this for any jazz musician wanting to grow and hone their abilities and confidence.
